From a mechanical perspective, SMO 254 flanges exhibit impressive strength and high-temperature stability. Their tensile and yield strength are significantly higher than conventional austenitic stainless steels. From a fabrication viewpoint, SMO 254 flanges offer excellent weldability. They can be welded using a variety of techniques, including shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), and gas metal arc welding (GMAW). However, care should be taken during welding to prevent hot cracking and preserve the flange's corrosion resistance.
